Ye Olde Oak – Fiery Chilli Hot Dogs in Brine (Limited Edidition)

Hot Dog Review - Ye Olde Oak - Critical Discourse on the consumption of hot dogs

You can just imagine my excitement when shopping in a well known UK supermarket I chanced across these little fiery devils, Ye Olde Oak have decided to release a limited edition hot dog the “Fiery Chilli Dog” packaged in the usual format, the graphic on the label playfully juxtaposes the “Ye Olde” branding with a style of flaming text more remanisent of what you might find on a fly poster in one of the poorer areas of Leeds.

Hot Dog Review - Ye Olde Oak Fiery Chilli Dogs - Critical discourse on the consumption of hot dogs

Ye Olde Oak Fiery Chilli Dogs

The shape and form of the Dog is best described as homogenous in the broadest sense of the word, the sausage doesn’t offer the palate anything new except a pleasing sense of heat that slowly builds in the mouth.

The ingredients include a high percentage of chicken (mechanically recovered of course) then there are more flamboyant elements like beef collagen and the addition of smoke offer the ingredients a more ephemeral feel.

This is a good alternative to the entry-level hot dog for those who care for a little more heat and best enjoyed with a good Cabernet Sauvignon.
